If you find yourself with a little extra time and want to experience one of the area’s major attractions, we recommend a visit to American Dream, just about 30 minutes south of River Vale. It’s far more than a shopping mall—it’s an entertainment destination with impressive dining, designer shopping, and attractions all under one roof. Even if you only have a few hours, it’s an easy way to add something unexpected and memorable to your visit.

Westwood is classic, charming, and everything you would want in a small town stroll. It’s only a few minutes away and has a compact downtown with independent shops, cafés, restaurants, and a pleasant neighborhood feel. Bergen County specifically highlights Westwood’s “Five Corners” as one of its notable downtown shopping areas.

About 15–20 minutes north/east across the state line, and probably my favorite recommendation for visitors who want something less generic. Nyack has an eclectic collection of boutiques, antiques, galleries, home shops, books, gifts and restaurants, plus a charming downtown near the Hudson River.

Palisades Interstate Park is a beautiful, state protected park along the New Jersey side of the Hudson River, known for its dramatic cliffs, forested trails, scenic overlooks, and historic sites. The expansive park is widely recognized for both its natural scenery and historical significance. A beautiful place to visit and take in the views, even during a snowy New Jersey winter.

Nestled in the heart of Woodcliff Lake, Wood Dale County Park emerges as a serene haven for nature enthusiasts and families alike. With its captivating landscape, the park features a large pond that serves as a tranquil centerpiece, surrounded by lush greenery and towering trees. Visitors are drawn to the park's aesthetic charm, highlighted by a rustic gazebo that offers an inviting spot for relaxation and reflection.

If you are looking for a chance to unwind and pamper yourself before the party starts, this is very close by at 168 Kinderkamack Rd., and it's a good choice if the priority is more of a traditional spa treatment. They offer massages, facials, HydraFacials, skincare and waxing. They review tons of local praise and come highly recommended.

There are not enough good things that can be said about Mania Salon. Rate the Best Salon in Bergen County, if you're looking for hair, nails, make-up, even a spray tan, this is the place. I do recommend to book in advance as the chairs fill up quickly!
